SCIENCE, INNOVATION AND TRANSLATION: THE DESIGN AND OPERATION OF RESEARCH LABORATORIES, INCUBATORS AND SCIENCE PARK FACILITIES

S-Lab: Supporting World Class Science is jointly organising a Conference, Exhibition and Gala Dinner at York Racecourse, in partnership with the United Kingdom Science Park Association (UKSPA) and others. This two day Conference should attract 400+ key stakeholders in the design, financing, managing and operation of life science, physical science and translational research and innovation facilities in universities and other sectors. Conference keynotes and 80+ parallel sessions will cover topics such as:

. Good practice in setting up and managing innovation facilities in UK and North America, including a keynote by Dr. David Cantor, ex Pfizer VP, and now Senior Associate Vice President, University of Michigan and Executive Director of its 185,000 m2 North Campus Research Complex, and cases from Bristol Unit DX, Newcastle Science Central, and Norwich Research Park / Quadrum Institute.

. New translational research facilities - British Columbia; Dundee; Harvard; Monash (Australia).  

. New and refurbished life science research facilities - Allen Institute (Seattle); Cardiff; Francis Crick; Glasgow; Leicester; Queen’s Belfast; Pirbright; UCL.

. Estates - CPD and project relevant learning about many of the world’s best new lab designs; ventilation best practice and updates; flexible services; space management and costing; and more.

. Energy/Environment - net-zero carbon labs at Illinois and Nottingham; Green Lab experiences; latest energy and water efficient equipment; fume cupboard energy savings at Copenhagen, Reading and Strathclyde; strategic approaches to water efficiency.

. Futures - Brexit and UK/EU policies; science and technology trends and design; investment, IT, location, management, skills, workspace and other implications for incubators, science parks and research facilities.

An exhibition with 50-60 stands will provide opportunities to build and strengthen relationships between customers and suppliers and highlight innovative developments in design, facilities, operation and knowledge transfer. (York sponsors and exhibitors.)

A Gala Dinner will enable relaxed networking with 300+ attendees and highlight best practice with brief presentations to winners of the 2017 S-Lab and UKSPA Awards.
