The Carbon Trust has launched a new independent service to help public bodies understand the benefits of generating 'off-grid' energy and support them in progressing decentralised energy programmes.

Decentralised energy refers to a variety of technologies that can provide localised energy generation, including district heating, combined heat and power, waste to energy, and renewables.
