The Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Topic Support Network and Learning for Sustainability Scotland Further and Higher Education Task Group arranged this meeting to explore the 2021 QAA / Advance HE Guidance on Education for Sustainable Development for Higher Education providers.

Earlier ESD Guidance was developed and published in 2014 and, in 2020-21, this underwent a major review. Our Network submitted a response as part of the consultation that informed the new Guidance.

The new Guidance builds upon the concept of education for sustainable development, identifies a process for implementation and offers a toolkit for designing education for sustainable development into curricula.

The event included an introduction to the guidance, insight into implementation plans from staff within a range of positions within higher education institutions as well as the Co-Chairs of the Advisory Group for the Guidance, and an open discussion on barriers to implementation and opportunities the guidance presents for individual attendees.

A recording of the event is available below, with the minutes and slides from the presentation introducing the guidance available to download from this page.
