'Future Cities' Design as Research Conference
'Future Cities' Design as Research Conference
19th Apr – 20th Apr 2012 10:11
Conference booklet
Programme
Organised by the School of Architecture, Design & Construction, this two-day event explores some of the issues that our future cities are facing and proposes a way forwards through a new way of thinking about cities that we have called ‘Reflexive Urbanism’.
It is free – so feel free to attend a session but otherwise it’s worth just having a look at the conference agenda if you’re interested in activating that imagination for some out of the box thinking including ‘
the incredible shrinking man’ as well as what possibilities future technology holds for us and how we can apply lessons from nature e.g. where shoes are made out of material that mend themselves or the use of bioluminescence to provide low energy lighting systems.
*There are no registration fees for this event. But to register, please e-mail: Phillipa Wall at
