14th International ACTS Conference - Bridging Divides: Connections for holistic sustainability
5th Nov – 7th Nov 2014 00:00
The 14th International ACTS Conference will be held in Hobart at the Hotel Grand Chancellor on the 5-7 November 2014, jointly hosted by the University of Tasmania and TasTAFE. The theme “Bridging Divides: Connections for holistic sustainability” not only references crossing the Bass Strait to our conference location, but will explore the metaphoric and figurative divides between educational levels, as well as between education and the broader community. Bridging these divides is of utmost importance to deliver a more effective and sustainable education sector.
The event provides opportunities for professionals and students working in all areas of sustainability across campus and surrounding communities. Coming together under the conference theme, delegates will share new ideas and successes, whilst advancing knowledge of current and emerging themes.
Highlighting the event are keynote addresses from an impressive lineup of world-class speakers, including:
Christine Milne, Leader of the Australian Greens
Professor Stephen Stirling, Plymouth University UK
Kelly O’Shanassy, CEO of the Australian Conservation Foundation
Anne-Maree Huxley, CEO of Models of Success and Sustainability
Dr Nick Towel, University of Tasmania
The highly anticipated annual conference dinner will again host the prestigious Green Gown Awards Australasia Ceremony on 6 November 2014. The ceremony will be an excellent opportunity to network with the who’s who in tertiary education sustainability, learn more about the sector’s excellent achievements and is sure to be fun packed and inspiring! For the first time the Australasian Awards will host the International Green Gown Awards, making it a night not to be missed!
