All Our Futures 2 - Annual Conference
Getting real – investing in our future
15 – 17 September 2009
University of Plymouth – Sherwell Centre and Portland Square

The conference builds on the success of All Our Futures 1 held in the University of Plymouth in September 2008.
These are unprecedented times, both of threat and opportunity, uncertainty and bold innovation. The conference asks three questions:
What are the pressures – environmental, social and economic – which confront all of us today? This is a question for students and staff of universities, members of business corporations, public and private sector professionals and community workers confronted by local and global change – positive and negative, hopeful and threatening - on a scale no-one imagined until very recently.
How should we respond to these challenges? What practical, real-world interventions can we make? How can the universities and colleges contribute to corporate social responsibility, regional economic well-being, social cohesion and environmental care? How can Higher Education work together with the business community and the public sector to shape a future fit to live and work in fully and effectively?
What really matters in a world of deepening uncertainty? What are the values that must shape our thinking and planning in extra-ordinary times?

The University of Plymouth is not alone in its commitment to the triple agenda of sustainability, enterprise and internationalization. The conference will explore the meaning of these goals and the ways they can be achieved in practice.
