Best Practice Seminars - Disposal Services Authority
Best Practice Seminars - Disposal Services Authority
7th Oct – 8th Oct 2008 00:00
The Disposal Services Authority is an executive agent of the Ministry of Defence who specialises in the disposal of surplus assets and waste.
The seminars will concentrate on the four most critical areas of waste and disposals:
1. Recovering the most money from disposals by selling to agents or by selling directly online on the Ministry of Defence website, www.edisposals.com)
2. Removing your organisations liability from disposals through proper documentation and vendor selection.
3. Meeting or exceeding recycling targets for disposals, tracking tonnages and auditing the results.
4. Reducing power bills by implementing Green IT audits, benchmarking the thousands of computers and other IT infrastructures power consumption.
The MoD are the largest single waste creator in the UK and have processes in place to cover any disposal (except nuclear and domestic waste). They are able to find buyers and take away the product liability from other organisations. This is obviously a win-win situation. Companies requiring your surplus assets get a good price, your establishment receives monies for the products and liability is transferred to the D.S.A. This rule applies in any circumstances and for any waste which needs to be disposed of (except nuclear and domestic). This service complies fully with the Official Journal of the European Union, thereby making the traditional method of putting your waste disposal needs out to tender no longer a requirement. Government buyers have been advised where possible to purchase services and contracts from other government funded bodies to enable public sector money to be kept in the public purse.
The MoD currently disposes in excess of 1,000,000 tons of items per year and recovers over £100 million a year from assets and items that have already fully depreciated.
The seminars are being held from 9.30am until 2pm at the following venues:
October 7 at Biocity, Nottingham
October 8 at MacDonald Hotel, Manchester
