About
The Central Point of Expertise on Timber (CPET) will be hosting regional training workshops to aid and assist central government departments and publically funded bodies such as universities to develop, implement and monitor sustainable and legal timber and paper products procurement policies, in line with UK government policy. The event is open and free to all university staff and their suppliers and contractors.
Sustainability is a topic in which universities are increasingly well versed, and this workshop is made available to help take simple yet effective steps to having a positive impact on the world’s forests and meet sustainable development targets.
CPET is a DEFRA funded body, working to provide practical advice and assistance to Government departments, Local Authorities and Universities on responsible timber product procurement - free of charge. Our
website gives more information about the importance of timber procurement and how we can help you and your University, to achieve more sustainable procurement policies.
Content
This will be a highly informative workshop which explores how to implement and monitor sustainable timber procurement policies. The workshop covers responsible purchasing, illegal logging, the UK Government Policy, definitions, the types of evidence that are available and how to check them, as well as topics such as contract conditions and implementation. We work through several case studies to examine the types of evidence available, so as to ensure you are confident in assessing and collecting evidence back in the work place.
I would also invite you to pass this information onto your contractors and suppliers. More information about the workshops can be found on our website at
www.proforest.net/cpet.
We can arrange ad hoc training workshops and awareness raising sessions for university staff and private suppliers and contractors upon request. Please contact us for further details.
