Energy Saving Trust Travel Workshop

EAUC-Scotland and Energy Saving Trust Scotland have joined to help you Reduce Cost, Save Carbon – Improve your Fleet, a joint project engaging with all Scottish institutions to look at their current fleet and establish improvements that could help you save money, reduce carbon and enhance your green credentials.

As part of this programme EST are holding a workshop dedicated to Universities and Colleges to provide specialised advice and guidance. This will be an opportunity to learn about the tools and resources that are available to you, share best practice and highlight case studies where measures have worked well and how barriers have been overcome. The aim is for this support to be interactive and tailored to your needs so we would welcome any suggestions on topics or issues you would like covered.

Who Should Attend

This event is for anyone responsible for managing transport on or around campus, including Fleet Managers and Travel Officers. The workshop will also be relevant to Procurement and Finance Staff who are responsible for purchasing fleet vehicles and monitoring expenses claims and those responsible for co-ordinating sustainability activity and projects.
 

Topics to be covered

• Monitoring, setting targets and how this links with your Climate Commitment
• Reducing mileage, travel hierarchy and alternatives to travel (e.g. teleconferencing and video conferencing)
• Procurement
• Travel policies and CO2 limits
• Efficiency improvements, sustainable travel options, fuel efficient driving, telematics
• Fleet management systems
• Travel planning, improving travel for staff, students and visitors
• Electric vehicles, background and benefits
• Smarter working, flexi working, most efficient use of workspace
