Escape to the City

26th Jun 2014 18:30 – 20:00

Around 75% of the world’s population will live in cities by 2050.

What impact is urban living having on our wellbeing? What can we learn from cities around the world? And how can we balance rapid urbanisation with quality of life?

Join us and our expert panel to discuss whether we should all ‘escape to the city’.

Speakers include:

LEO HOLLIS, Urbanist, historian and author of the international bestseller
Cities are Good for you

DR GEORGE MACKERRON, Lecturer in the Economics of Environment, Energy and Climate Change (Economics), University of Sussex, and creator of Mappiness, the happiness mapping app.

JEREMY BENTHAM, Vice President Global Business Environment, Royal Dutch Shell and Head of the Shell Scenarios team which has recently published a special Future Cities supplement in collaboration with the Centre for Liveable Cities, Singapore.
