Going Greener - People & Planet 30th January 09
30th Jan 2009 00:00
People & Planet will be holding an event on climate change and higher education, 'Going Greener', on Friday 30 January 2009 at the London School of Economics.
'Going Greener' is a day-long event in two halves.
Morning: Green League Round Table
An opportunity to find out more about People & Planet's award-winning Green League, and to input into the process of reviewing the criteria and methodology for the Green League 2009.
Afternoon: HE and Climate Change - how can the sector contribute to the UK's 80% reduction target?
Looking to the future, how can the HE sector build on recent improvements in environmental management to contribute to the UK's new target of 80% cuts in carbon emissions by 2050? Can universities be leaders to drive forward the urgent change needed across society? What should concerned staff and students be focusing on in the next two years to ensure universities play a positive role in tackling climate change in the long term?
You are welcome to attend either or both of the morning and afternoon sessions.
'Going Greener' is an event designed for people actively involved in working to improve the environmental performance of universities and the higher education sector more broadly. Participants will include both staff and students.
The event will be interactive and participatory, aiming to draw on the experiences and expertise of participants, and to provide an opportunity to share and develop ideas.
