Green Britain Day
10th Jul 2009 00:00
Let's Go For Green in 2012
When everyone looks to London in 2012, wouldn't it be great if they saw that Britain was genuinely leading the world in the race against climate change?
If we all start making changes now, it could just happen.
Impossible? It might feel that way as we each struggle to make our own lives a little greener. Of course, the small things add up. But what if tens of thousands of us all worked together as one big team, inspiring each other, learning from each other, bringing out the best in each other?
Isn't there a chance - a real chance - we could reach a turning point and start to change things
for the better?
Be part of it
That’s the big idea behind Team Green Britain. As a team member, you’ll get all the practical support, information and advice you need about living a greener life. So that, together, we can leave a lasting, green legacy after The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The date to remember is 10 July, the first Green Britain Day, an opportunity to get together, have fun, and begin our journey towards a lower carbon future.
So please join our Team. And remember, however you play it, every positive action you take is part of something that's bigger than all of us.
Green Britain day events across the country
In conjunction with EDF Energy, Heart FM will be hosting a series of green events on Green Britain Day. There'll be Swap Shops where you can exchange anything from fashion statements you've made once too often to books you're never going to read. Bike Surgeries will offer free check-ups to see whether your trusty bike's still fit for the road and kids can learn how to turn old newspapers into hats, collages and minor origami miracles. There will be also be opportunities to find out how to buy more local goods and advice on shrinking your carbon footprint. And fun and games for all.
Check the list to see if there's an event near you, then tune in to your local Heart FM station for more details.
