Investing in Nature: Lessons from Greater Manchester (IGNITION project)

We are in the midst of a biodiversity and climate crisis. There is a huge gap in financing that must be addressed if we are to secure a safe and resilient future for our communities. Seeking to address this gap, the IGNITION project was set up with the mission to shed light on the value of nature-based solutions at scale and investigate innovative financing mechanisms.

Funded by the Urban Innovative Actions Fund, 12 project partners have been deepening understanding of the challenges and opportunities surrounding greening our urban environments and engaging vital stakeholders who are taking action. After three years of research, innovation and implementation, we are ready to share the lessons learned in Greater Manchester and provide actionable recommendations for attendees, as well as the tools and resources to create change with confidence in any organisation.

The IGNITION project is a ground-breaking project that aims to develop innovative financing solutions for investment in Greater Manchester’s natural environment. This investment will help to build the city region’s ability to adapt to the increasingly extreme impacts of climate change. The project is funded by the Urban Innovative Actions fund and will run until April 2022.
