Lessons from some recent UN Conferences: Learning for a Sustainable World
Wednesday 13th February 14.15 to 16.15 1WN 3.17
UNESCO, UNEP, UNICEF and UN University (UNU) are all UN bodies committed to learning for a sustainable world, but each invites a series of questions about what they do, and how they do it. For example: do their gatherings work effectively; are they changing the way we learn or develop sustainably; do we have to travel to participate; is there enough of a learner’s voice; and do they help us learn from others? These are some of the casual conference corridor questions that are now being asked. Adam Cade will draw on experiences from recent conferences in Indonesia, Malaysia and India, as well as on a variety of related UN projects, to illustrate some innovative developments, global perspectives and challenges for more effective collaboration. Particular examples will include the UNESCO / UNEP TbilisiPlus30 conference, the UNU’s development of the network of Regional Centres of Expertise for ESD, and youth engagement at the Bali Climate Change conference.
All welcome.
