Let's get creative! - National Sustainable Schools Online Conference 2011
6th Jun – 13th Jul 2011 15:59
Can’t afford travel to conferences..? Can’t afford supply cover? Wanting to keep your carbon footprint down? But enjoy networking, learning new ideas and getting new resources?
Then join SEEd’s Sustainable Schools Online Conference 2011; the first of its kind in the UK.
This is part of a national conference which has been successfully running in the UK for 8 years, and is endorsed by the UK Government’s Department of Education. The online element is designed for those of you who want to join in but can’t attend one of our face to face regional events but would like the same conference experiences.
Over 6 weeks you will have more than a days conference experience:
• more keynotes,
• more workshops,
• more networking
• and more resources.
You will have the opportunity to meet and network with others. People just like you! Hear the stories and evidence from: experts in the field, schools making great progress, teachers, students and providers. Explore creative new ways for schools to engage in sustainability – from curriculum, to community engagement, to funding your SD work, and to engaging your students.
Login in for a few minutes per day (that’s all it takes!), download the latest resources and participate in workshops and discussions. Each week you will get a new theme and summaries of the past week. In September a whole document with summaries of resources and good ideas to get you going will be emailed to you– free! Equivalent to more than a whole day conference - all for just £75 (£30 for students – with student card) and without leaving your own desk! Real value for money.
Evidence from research around the world has shown the importance of engaging with sustainability in schools. Not only can it lead to cost savings, but active student work can lead to better motivation, sense of well-being and improved learning outcomes across all subjects as shown in Ofsted reports too.
If you are from overseas you may know that the UK has ambitious goals for sustainability. In light of recent changes in UK government policy, the sustainability and environmental education sector here are pulling together to support sustainability and environmental education. Learn more, download resources and meet the experts. We want to hear your international stories too!
