Low Carbon Technology briefings: Small Scale Wind

18th Mar 2008 00:00

The last few years have seen many developments in small scale wind technology. Consequently, the number of turbines in use has risen as a result of a growing interest amongst home owners and organisations in having their own source of green energy.

There are a wide range of different technologies being developed that are aimed at the built environment. These can generate varying percentages of a building's energy consumption, depending on the option chosen and the wind speed at the site. However, due to the characteristics of the wind in the built environment, these technologies present complex issues regarding building integration.

Delegates will gain an insight into what technologies are available, the output that can be expected and how they can be incorporated into building developments. Speakers from the sector will give presentations on a range of issues including grid connection and metering, government policy, grant schemes and planning.
