Making Events More Sustainable - City, University of London

14th Dec 2021 19:00 – 21:00

Students from City’s Major Event Management short course are bringing leading event practitioners together for a discussion of sustainability issues in the production of live events.

To celebrate the fact that the UK’s biggest event this year was the COP26 climate change conference in Glasgow they are bringing together event professionals from different sectors of the industry to tell everyone what they are doing to make their events more sustainable, and how we can all work towards producing eco-friendly events of our own.

Leading industry experts who are involved in some of the UK’s most prestigious live events will be joining City to discuss their thoughts on event sustainability with our short courses students. A very distinguished panel, who work in fields as diverse as sports events, arts festivals and rock and pop touring have kindly agreed to meet with students. They will also take live Facebook questions and answers from Event Management students around the country and anyone else with an interest in how our events affect the environment.

Confirmed speakers include:

- Pauline Bourdon. Founder, Soliphilia (Sustainable Touring Consultancy)
- Simon Curtis, Convenor, GMAST (Greater Manchester Arts Sustainability Team)
- Andy Fryers, Sustainability Director, Hay Literary Festival
- Claire Poole, Founder and CEO, Sport Positive.

Chair: Liam Devine, City, University of London.
