Open Day: Managing a Public Sector Solar Farm Project
2nd Jul 2015 00:00
Find out from experts how you can successfully develop a solar farm by attending our 1-day workshop event, including a guided tour of Telford & Wrekin Council’s solar farm, one of the first publicly operated sites in the UK.
Telford & Wrekin Council’s solar farm
Since our solar farm was ‘switched on’ in December 2014, it has:
• delivered a new income stream for the Council and;
• generated more than 1000MWh (1GWh) of renewable energy – equivalent to the average annual electricity usage of 240 households.
Our site has been quoted as an ‘exemplary electrical installation...which is to a high quality of workmanship’.
Come and learn from the experts we worked with who can take you through what you need to do to manage your own project. The experts include;
Novus Energy – UK based solar PV developers used for solar farm design and grid connection
WYG – planning consultants who prepared and submitted the planning application and all necessary pre-planning assessments
Bevan Brittan – a public services law firm who provide commercial legal advice for public projects
Arup – technical and commercial specialists, who advised on technical aspects of the procurement and income options
Izen – a Belgium company specialising in renewable energy who are our contractors to build, operate and maintain the solar farm
As well as our external advisors, Council officers who have worked on the project will be on hand to answer your questions throughout the day.
