'Place Based Learning' for Sustainability & Global Citizenship
'Place Based Learning' for Sustainability & Global Citizenship
11th Jun 2010 12:22
Annual Conference run by London South Bank University's Education for Sustainability (EFS), followed by the official launch of the London RCE
Date: Friday 11 June 2010
Venue: London South Bank University, London, SE1
‘Place-based learning’ (sometimes Place-based education) is an emerging ‘movement’ which generally orientates or ‘situates’ learning on the learners’ own “place” or home locality. However, in this event we will be extending this notion to consider the benefits, but also dangers, of attempting to learn from other, often distant, places through linking or study visits.
Who is this conference for? Anyone who is interested in sustainable and cosmopolitan ‘place-making’! The list might include (but isn’t restricted to): Teachers and Headteachers, Teacher Educators, University lecturers, Community Educators, Planning Professionals, Local Authority Officers and Elected Members, Community Activists etc.
