Site drainage has always been "out of sight out of mind" and many companies only look at drainage when they have a problem. Pollution incidents occur every day as a result of spillages, accidents, negligence or vandalism - sometimes the pollutants put human health at risk and often they devastate wildlife habitats. In addition, many organisations are not aware of the need for a discharge consent when disposing of effluents to the foul drainage system.
