Are you thinking about running Carbon Literacy within your organisation? Would you find some practical examples from Institutions that have already achieved success with this useful?
This webinar was an opportunity to hear from several organisations who have taken part in EAUC Carbon Literacy Training courses with a vision to implement the training within their own organisations.
While attending the training is most often a first and useful step to understanding the materials and how to run the training, actually getting started rolling it out internally often has it's challenges and pitfalls along the way.
In this session we heard from:
Bournemouth University - Bournemouth have rolled out a termly training to both staff and students, training over 50 people this academic year. The next step will be to recruit trainers to roll the programme out to courses and departments. (Starts 1min in)
University of Bath - Bath is first University to include Carbon Literacy in induction for all new students. They are also running some bespoke sessions for staff. (Starts 11min 40 seconds in)
Harrogate College - are cascading Carbon Literacy through the college starting with Managers, staff, and then students. They are then planning or replicating the rollout across the Luminate group of colleges. (Starts 20 minutes in) Hereford College of Art - starting with their Working Sustainability group, a mix of staff and students HCA have pledged to roll out carbon literacy training for all students by the end of 2022. (Starts 28 minutes in)
We also had an update from Manchester Metropolitan University on the development of the Leadership course and modules for Carbon Literacy in Universities and Colleges. (Starts 49 minutes in)
