Student Volunteering Week 2010
22nd Feb – 28th Feb 2010 12:17
Student Volunteering Week was established in 2001, and raises the national profile of Further and Higher Education student volunteering. By working with our key stakeholders across the public, private and voluntary sectors, the campaign aims to further strengthen student volunteering infrastructure.
The theme for 2010 is ‘
Inspiring futures; connecting communities’. We are focussing on volunteering as a way to enhance personal and professional development, as well as a way to create community and institutional cohesion.
The objectives of Student Volunteering Week 2010 are:
- To raise the profile of student volunteering
- To demonstrate the benefits that volunteering has for:
- students
- educational institutions
- the community
- business and recruiters
- To highlight the relationship between employability and volunteering
- To build partnerships and engage with key stakeholders, including universities, graduate recruiters and policy makers
- To encourage more people to volunteer
