Sustainability and Employability - LSIS London Region Event

28th Mar 2013 10:30 – 15:30

How can we integrate Sustainable Development in the tertiary sector?

A workshop to identify the current state of play in embedding education for sustainable development (ESD) across the sector. We will look at the main obstacles and key policy changes needed.

We are fast approaching the end of the UN Decade for ESD (2015). Progress has been painfully slow. A ‘Skills for Sustainability’ consultation document from the Green Economy Council is due to be published before Easter. But will it deliver what the tertiary sector needs?

This event will bring together people from across Adult and Community, Work Based Learning, FE, and HE to:
• Identify the obstacles that prevent the education sector embedding ESD
• Review current proposals from government and within the sector
• Compare current practice across the London Region
• Identify the main changes needed to promote ESD across all parts of the sector

This will be a practical day designed to influence organisations within education and other policy makers. There will be lots of time to contribute in small group discussions and full sessions. Please diary this event and we will send out further programme details shortly.
