The Northern Irish College of the Future

25th Mar 2021 14:00 – 15:00

Final Report Launch Event

What do we want and need from our colleges from 2030 onwards, and how do we get there? These were the simple yet important questions the Independent Commission on the College of the Future sought to answer when it began work in spring 2019.

Join the Independent Commission on the College of the Future on Thursday 25 March, 2pm-3pm, to discuss its new report for Northern Ireland.

Following the publication of the Commission’s UK-wide final report in Autumn 2020, it is now setting out recommendations for realising its vision for the college of the future in each of the four nations.

About this event

Chaired by Commissioner, Member of Parliament for North Down and Former Minister for Employment and Learning in Northern Ireland, Dr Stephen Farry, this event marks the launch of this ambitious, new report for Northern Ireland.

Our work as a Commission over the past two years has been significantly informed and shaped by the Northern Ireland experience. This report looks to ways that Northern Ireland can further capitalise on the considerable strengths of the colleges individually, collectively and within the wider tertiary system, in anticipation of the Executive’s Skills Strategy.

We are delighted to be joined by the following speakers:
Marie-Thérèse McGivern, Commissioner and Former Principal and Chief Executive, Belfast Metropolitan College
Stephen Evans, Expert Panel Member and Chief Executive of Learning and Work Institute
Jackie Henry, Chair of Skills Strategy Advisory Group, Deloitte UK Consulting People & Purpose Lead and NI Office Senior Partner
Brian Doran, Principal and Chief Executive of Southern Regional College

This free online event is open to all with an interest in the college of the future. It will take place on Zoom and you will receive the link on the day of the event. A recording of the event will be available after the event on the Commission's website.

Join in the conversation on social media using @CollegeComm and #CollegeoftheFuture.
