The Way Forward for Sustainability in Wales

22nd Nov 2012 15:58

Guests of Honour: John Griffiths AM, Minister for Environment and Sustainable Development, Welsh Government and Peter Davies, Sustainable Futures Commissioner for Wales

This timely seminar will bring together key policymakers and stakeholders - including local authorities, academics, environmental groups, businesses and their advisers, and others affected by these issues - to discuss the future of sustainable development and energy policies in Wales. It is scheduled as the Welsh Government considers the shape and scope of its Sustainable Development Bill due for 2013, following their November 2011 discussion paper One Wales: One Planet.

Delegates will discuss the next steps for the Sustainable Development Charter, the creation of a single sustainable development body for Wales, and how best to balance the need for increased sustainability with the pursuit of economic growth. Future policy developments in planning and housing, and whether powers over wider energy policy should be devolved to the Welsh Government will also be discussed.

This seminar is CPD certified.
