The 58 shortlisted entries for the 2014 S-Lab Awards include ones from 28 UK universities (with Cardiff, King's College, Leeds, Nottingham, Sheffield and York being new Russell Group entrants), many non UK universities and research centres from three continents (e.g. Catalonia, John Hopkins, Singapore), government agencies, innovative lab products (such as a Stirling Engine based freezer design), startups (Spirogen), and the Blackfeet Indian tribe of Montana (for the new STEM labs in their community college). There will be a pre-conference awards dinner at King's College on Sept 1, and the results will also be announced during the conference itself (2-3 September at King's College London).
