Climate Week 2012 - what difference have EAUC Members made?

13th March 2012

Climate Week is a national celebration of all the positive steps workplaces and communities are taking to protect our environment and hopefully inspire people.

We thought, during Climate Week, that we might pass on some figures showing the impact of our relationship with Better World Books. They are understandably very proud of the literacy impact of their company and their business model is built around keeping books from landfill.

Based on averages, for every 1,000 books they receive, your institution will:

• Earn £100
• Raise £33 for a literacy charity
• Save 16 trees
• Save 2 metres cubed of Landfill Space
• Save 35,702 litres of water
• Save 3,298 Kwh of Electricity
• Save 646Kg of Greenhouse gases

So the more you recycle with your Better World Books collection bin, the more your institution benefits!

Do you want to make a difference and recycle your institution's unwanted books?

Better World Books offers EAUC Members a free program for libraries and academic institutions to dispose of unwanted books, while generating some funding for themselves and a literacy charity.
