EAUC Consultation response: Proposed repeal by DEFRA of construction SWMPs Regulations

15th July 2013

The EAUC has now published its response to the DEFRA consultation on the proposed repeal of the construction Site Waste Management Plans (SWMP) regulations.

The EAUC is a Member-led organisation. We represent you, and ensure that your views on topical issues are conveyed to the rest of the sector and to the Government. One important way we can do this is by responding to consultations from the Government and other organisations.

Thank you to all our Members who responded to this consultation and, in particular, to Daniel O'Connor from Newcastle University for collating the responses.

What is this consultation about?

In 2012, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) proposed the repeal of the construction Site Waste Management Plans (SWMP) regulations, subject to consultation on the impact of doing so. This was in response to the Government's Red Tape Challenge, which was designed to remove unnecessary legislation to free-up business.

The EAUC consulted with Members in July 2007 on the implementation of SWMP regulations. View the 2007 Member consultation response.
