Join the Big Fish Fight?

8th February 2011

Did you know that around half of the fish caught by fishermen in the North Sea are unnecessarily thrown back into the ocean dead?

As a result, Manchester Metropolitan University’s (MMU) Facilities Environment Team has announced their support for the ‘Big Fish Fight’ campaign to help bring an end to this senseless waste of food.

The ‘Big Fish Fight’ series on Channel 4 sees top chefs, including Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, championing sustainable seafood and encouraging the public to try other lesser known types of fish.

MMU will be working with the Students' Union and Catering Services to be more aware of the fish products they are buying. You too can take part in this campaign and the EAUC is encouraging all of its Members to get involved by changing to sustainable sources of fish and by spreading the ‘Big Fish Fight’ word. The EAUC is also encouraging its Board and Staff members to sign up to the ‘Big Fish Fight’ petition!
