Low Carbon Vehicle Public Procurement Programme - 15 remaining on the scheme

14th May 2013

In September 2012, we advised you about the Government’s Low Carbon Vehicle Public Procurement Programme (LCVPPP) which was set up in 2007 to help stimulate the market for lower carbon vehicles. It has provided financial assistance to public sector organisations wishing to procure innovative, lower carbon vehicles for their fleets. View original news item

In its first phase, the programme has provided funding to support the trial of over 200 electric and low emission vans in a range of public fleets. In November 2011, OLEV Ministers took the decision to allow Ashwoods, supplier of the low carbon van, to continue into the second phase of the programme. Further funding of up to GBP1.7m is now available for any public fleet buyers to purchase a further 500 low carbon vans from the procurement framework.

For the first 500 vans, OLEV will provide a grant of GBP3,430 per van to discount the additional cost, which is expected not to be necessary as volumes grow further.

We've been advised by Ashwoods that of the 500 places available 481 orders have been placed leaving remaining funding for 15 Hybrid Transits. Those who wish to order these remaining vehicles can do so on a first come, first served basis until all of them are taken.
