Re-Development of Universities that Count

20th June 2011

Following the publication of the 2011 Green League, the EAUC are delighted to announce that work is well underway on the redevelopment of Universities that Count.

Building on the momentum generated by the Green League and other campaign activities, the EAUC is leading the development of a robust and comprehensive sustainability and social responsibility management and benchmarking system for both universities and colleges.

Since we published the independent review of the previous mechanism in January, we've been working hard to develop and deliver a new performance improvement system that addresses all the feedback we've received from the sector:

For the sector, by the sector

Unlike some other sector initiatives, our new programme has been developed through direct consultation with a range of people from universities and colleges. We are keen to get as much involvement as we can from the sector and invite everyone to contribute to this process.

• New peer-reviewed accreditation

To support the new performance management and benchmarking system, we
are creating a peer-reviewed accreditation process. This independent
accreditation will reflect the true nature of the sectorʼs performance and will
be actively promoted through the national media.

• New software

We are developing a brand new platform to run the programme. This multiuser platform will make engaging easier, quicker and more effective and is being designed specifically for universities and colleges.

Chief Executive Iain Patton says “The EAUC is excited by the imminent launch of our new programme. We are actively looking to broaden this consultation process and engage with the wider sector to help guide the ongoing development of the frameworks and the online system.”

More details about the new programme will be unveiled on Wednesday 29 June 2011. For more information on Universities that Count, please click here.
