Coventry University’s School of Art and Design have established a social enterprise ‘ReFreshed UnLtd’, upcycling counterfeit clothes donated from Coventry Trading Standards into one off garments designed by staff and students. In partnership with local charity Coventy Cyreians, the garments are sold on through a city centre shop. The project has employed 50 young, unemployed people since November 2012 providing valuable experience and skills.

£5,000 was awarded to the University from HEFCE to launch the social enterprise, all proceeds made are recycled back into the project. This includes £1,200 raised through events and the ongoing proceeds made from the shop sales.
