This report from Newcastle University summarises a series of reviews of the provision of teaching of “Sustainable Development” (SD), or “Sustainability” from 1999 until the academic year 2012/13.

The aim of each review was to assess to what degree the Curriculum focussed on this area, in terms of both module and programme provision, and determine which Faculties and Schools were most involved. In the context of this review, the term Sustainable Development (SD) was considered to the address the three pillars of Sustainability i.e. Societal, Environmental and Economic aspects,
