The 'Moving from Compliance to Leading Change' Summit was one of four Summits at the EAUC-Scotland Conference 2017. This Summit was chaired by George Tarvit from Keep Scotland Beautiful and consisted of three presentations and a workshop. You can find the resources from the different presentations linked below.

The Summit workshop asked attendees what actions by them, EAUC, SSN and others would help them and their institution to move towards better leadership on climate change.

Thoughts and considerations included:

  • Communication and public engagement barriers
  • Reporting does not enable an engaging narrative
  • There is a need for a command and control structure, but also space for creative innovation
  • High profile speakers are needed who engage with senior leaders
  • There needs to be joining up of different work areas
  • Different methods of communication required for different audiences
  • Need shared values, short and long term visions and supportive governance
  • Student leadership and engagement needs to be considered
