Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is the first University to receive the Silver Food for Life Catering Mark by the Soil Association for producing a large volume of student meals. The accreditation covers NTU’s three main catering outlets serving over 2000 meals per day. The Catering team at NTU have always aimed to produce appetising and affordable yet healthy food for staff and students at NTU, taking part in projects such as Food for the Brain. NTU’s catering team have made a number of changes to the food they produce with 90% of cooked meals freshly prepared in-house using local and seasonal ingredients. The university plans to extend its silver accreditation to its hospitality services and Conference Centre in the coming year.
