Hot Topics – Single-use Cups

Single-use hot drinks cups are a key issue for institutions due to most facilities providing some form of hot drinks catering. Although this topic is related to many other issues around single-use plastics, waste streams and behaviour change we feel that there is enough content out there for it to have a specialised section.

It is well known that the generic single-use coffee cup is non-recyclable in most parts of the UK due to its thin lining of waterproofing plastic and the difficulties of separating this in recycling facilities. These resources should provide an insight into the research and arguments around solving this issue.
